Mary Gale

Training Consultant and Speaker

Mary Gale has been a passionate advocate and speaker for media literacy ever since listening to David Walsh present on the topic. Over the last ten years, Mary has educated parent groups, school staffs, students, faith communities, ECFE classes and larger organizations such as and Resources for Child Caring on Media literacy. She has also developed a comprehensive training program for middle-school youth to teach younger students that employs National Institute on Media and the Family MediaWise Curriculum. In conjunction with the National Institute on Media and the Family and the Boy Scouts of America, Mary also designed a pilot media literacy curriculum, customized for the boy scouts.

Mary has educated parents and teachers for 23 years. In addition to her work with the National Institute on Media and the Family, Mary coordinates the South Washington County Community Education School Age Family Education program and co-founded Parenting by Heart to offer education, resources and support for parents. She has also created K-8 curriculum in Conflict Resolution and designed a peer mediation program which she has taught in numerous elementary schools. Mary was also involved in orchestrating the award-winning RESPECT 2000 Community Initiative that brought together schools, churches, health and public safety organizations, business, parents, and students to raise awareness and educate the community on the factors that put youth at risk.

Mary and her husband, Ed, live in Stillwater, Minnesota. They have three children, Molly Rachel, Jake, and daughter- in-law Sarah.
